School – Week Beginning 13th February 2012

Holiday Activity Club

Everybody had great fun in the hall.  The children especially enjoyed devising their own ball games and learning to play badminton.

The children also set up a café with lots of (play) food.  Olivia was the cook and Isabel enjoyed being the waitress.  Everyone else were the customers who decided “the food was delicious” and were extremely satisfied!

Charlie and Oliver had a fantastic game with the Knights of the Wooden Castle, defending it against the Dragons.

The highlight of the art and craft activities was making miniature rocking horses. The children constructed them from cardboard, coloured paper and felt and some of the cutting out was a bit tricky.  The children were really pleased with the end result, and everyone thought they looked “brilliant”.

Nursery – Week Beginning 13th February 2012

 Upper Nursery Activity Week
The children have enjoyed exploring a variety of craft materials this week, which included making clay hearts, heart shaped doilies and collages.  They have also been cooking and making chocolate crispie cakes.

Lower Nursery
This week the children have enjoyed using a range of mark making materials to create their own patterns.  They have enjoyed looking at patterns in the environment including patterns we can see on our clothing. They have used many different materials to create lovely patterns for display in their classroom.

The children have also been exploring textures, smells and taste this week, including, ice, jelly, and oats/porridge. Making their own porridge was a huge success and they enjoyed eating the porridge. It promoted talk about the 3 bears of Goldilocks fame, a story which was later read to them.

Toddlers
The children have been looking at colours.  Together they made a colourful fruit salad and whilst eating it they discussed the differences in the fruit.  They also looked at matching colours. The children matched some coloured bowls with different objects and also went on a colour walk around the nursery looking at the different colours they could see.

Babies
This week the babies have enjoyed making and tasting fairy cakes.  They also played with the farm animals and had fun making animal sounds and naming them.
