Nursery School Curriculum

Learn Through Play

We offer a carefully balanced nursery school curriculum. It fulfils the care and learning needs of all preschool children during their vital early years from birth to five years.

At Meadowpark Nursery we believe that young children learn through play and by engaging in well-planned and structured activities. We provide high quality learning experiences for all children. These are based on interests relevant to each child and knowledge relating to the real world.

Children throughout the nursery school are also offered age-appropriate programmes of activities. These further enhance their learning by developing their fine motor, listening and language and communication skills. In addition the activities nurture their creative and musical ability. The child’s key person organises small group or 1-1 sessions using resources. These include Penpals, Spirals, Sounds and Letters, Bean Bag Raps, Playdough Disco, Cherry Tots and BLAST (Boosting Language and Auditory Skills and Talking).

Writing skills and phonics are also introduced to enable school readiness.

In our spacious indoor hall, qualified coaches take the older children for football coaching, tag rugby and gymnastics. We also offer French, taught in an engaging way through songs and fun actions.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

We recognise that children learn and develop in different ways and at different rates. Furthermore, we value all areas of learning and development equally and understand that they are inter-connected as set out in the EYFS Curriculum.

The EYFS is organised into seven areas of learning . These together make up the skills, knowledge and experiences appropriate for babies and children as they grow, learn and develop:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication and Language
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Physical Development
  • Expressive Arts
